Our Curriculum…
Visiting a Synagogue…
Charles Bloom from Yeshrun Synogogue in Manchester visited school to share the celebration of Hanukkah. The children listened to the story of the first Hanukkah, sang Jewish songs and lit the Menorah. They also enjoyed playing the Dreidl game and learning about the food and celebrations of Hannukah.
RE Club…
Each year, children in Year 1 enjoy attending the RE Club where a Christian story is shared and crafts are made. Thanks to Christine (member of St Paul’s Church Congregation) for supporting us with this! The children had a great time!
Visiting a Mosque…
Year 2 Visit the Ghausia Mosque
Each year the children in Year 2 have the opportunity to visit Ghausia Mosque in Burnley. They learn so much and have a great time listening to the people showing them around. The children have a look at the Mosque school and learn to say some letters of the alphabet in Arabic. They look at the beautiful art work in the Mosque and and always ask lots of interesting questions. They finish with a quiz.
Welcoming Visitors…
On Monday 20th January we enjoyed a visit from Neetal Parekh. She worked with the whole school, class by class, teaching us Hindu dance steps and talking about the Hindu religion. We learnt so much and had a great day!
Our Super Learning…
Ashes made a Jewish Sukkah shelter after learning about the Israelites spending 40 years in the wilderness when they were freed from slavery.
Berries enjoyed learning about Judaism. They made unleven bread to remember the story of the escape from slavery and shared a symbolic passover meal with their class.
